ANCESTORS

shmi skywalker
G
reat-grandmother Shmi Skywalker raised grandpa Anakin Skywalker for 10 years before Skywalker left to join the Jedi order.  Years later, newlyweds Han & Leia Solo found her diary on Tatooine.  Shmi's memories of her son convinced Leia that despite the risks of the dark side, having babies was worth it.  Hoorah.

anakin skywalker
G
randpa Anakin died six years before his namesake was born, but his legacy as an evildoer did taint anakin solo's childhood.  Anakin was constantly haunted by dreams of turning to the dark side.

padmé naberrie amidala
G
randma?  Who is grandma?  Little is known about the elusive grandma, except for the fact that she existed and that she was good looking (why else are her kids so good looking?)  Isn't it sad that Anakin never knew any of his grandparents, because all of 'em died before he was born?  Isn't it sad that the only grandparent he knows about was once the scariest man in the galaxy?

IMMEDIATE FAMILY

han solo
D
addy Solo originally wanted to name his third son Han Solo Jr.  The idea didn't fly with his wifey.  Anakin was a very powerful Force-strong child who related more with his uncle than his father.  When it came down to philosophy; however, the two had a lot in common.  Anakin used the Force the exact way Han would if he had it: to save lives and win battles.  Anakin's relationship with Han was strained when the evil Yuuzhan Vong boogers dropped a moon on Sernpidal and Anakin flew away without taking the beloved Wook with him.  Han would later regret his mean, blaming words.  It would be a while before the two would reconcile, and a few days after their reconciliation, Anakin got poked to death.

leia organa solo
M
ommy Solo played the anchor in Anakin's childhood.  She fought for him whenever he was kidnapped by the random bad guy of the week.  She disciplined him when he was a bad kid.  Anakin's genius made him a very complex and confusing kid, a kid Leia wasn't always able to understand.  Leia completely spatzed out when Anakin's little flame went out, questioning her methods of raising her children.

jaina solo
S
ister Solo was the oldest of the Solo children and took it upon herself to watch after her little brother.  When Chewbacca hit the casket, Anakin specifically went to her for comfort.  She was fiercely protective of her little brother, especially aboard the worldship at Myrkyr.  Which, in the end, only made losing him extremely difficult for her--after his death, she began dancing the dark side tango.

jacen solo
B
rother Solo did not agree with Anakin's views of the Force.  This conflict spawned a huge/rift/argument guilt-trip thingy.  During the Centerpoint crisis, Jacen felt that using the Force to fire at the Yuuzhan Vong would be of the dark side. Anakin gave in to his brother's arguments, but when the Corellians fired anyway and destroyed half the Hapan fleet, Anakin blamed both Jacen and himself for the casualties.  The disagreement would leader to bickering during the mission to destroy the voyxn.  Ironically enough, before Anakin became one with the Force he ceded command of the strike team to Jacen and instructed his big brother to 'kiss Tahiri for me'.  Jacen successfully completed the mission but was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong.  During torture, Jacen's conscience replayed Anakin's death like a horrible broken record.  Although the brothers always bickered, Anakin's death was the most defining moment in Jacen's life.  It forced him to stop theorizing and start fighting.

EXTENDED FAMILY

luke skywalker
U
ncle Luke was Anakin's biggest adult role model--a Jedi who symbolized the goodness Anakin's namesake had not possessed.  Besides sharing Luke's blue eyes, earnest smile, and cleft chin, Anakin also had his incredibly strong Force potential.
Early on, Anakin molded himself after his uncle--but sometimes the pensive little boy was so confusing Luke couldn't even understand him.  Luke trained Anakin to Knighthood in his teen years.  It was Luke who approved the suicide mission to Myrkyr.  Anakin's death was one of many reasons why Luke backed away from his pacifist stance and began to participate in the war.

mara jade skywalker
A
unt Mara was both a friend and mentor.  Her straightforward manner was the antithesis of Leia's diplomatic style.  During Anakin's teenager years, Mara fell ill to a Yuuzhan Vong disease.  Anakin accompanied her to Dantooine for meditation; there, she taught him more about the Force and himself.  He worked with the natives and defended her from the attacking Yuuzhan Vong.  When Mara was giving birth, Anakin felt her pain through the Force and freaked out.  Mara was hurt by Anakin's death but chose to bottle up her feelings and step in to help her shaken husband.  (On the other hand, she sobbed her eyes out over a ship.) After seeing her sister-in-law lose her youngest child, Mara became extremely overprotective of her own son, Ben.

ben skywalker
B
aby Ben, Anakin noted, was an extremely ugly newborn.  Other than being the young cousin of Anakin, Cousin Ben has done little besides gurgle and escape (with the help of Threepio) a traditional kidnapping attempt.  He enjoyed saying the word 'knee' over and over again.  An-KNEE-kin, anyone?  Of course, seven years after his birth and Anakin's death everything changes.  He is now a boy who has shielded himself from the Force after feeling too much grief as an infant, but his precociousness still reminds many people of his dead cousin.

thracken sal-solo
T
hracken Sal-Solo is Han Solo's cousin.  He orchestrated the Corellian crisis and kidnapped the Solo kids when they were little.  Anakin ended up foiling his and the Triad's plans for galactic domination (sigh, when will the bad guys ever learn?).  After rotting in jail for a while, Thracken was pulled out to help with the Centerpoint project.  Poor Anakin was dragged back into the superweapon mess because he was the only person in the galaxy who could activate it.  After turning on the weapon, Anakin hesitated from firing after hearing Jacen pontificate on Jedi genocide.  Impatient Thracken seized control of the machine and fired, blowing up a lot of good guys...but also a LOT of bad guys.  Thracken was hailed hero of the Battle of Fondor and this quickly elevated him in the eyes of many and he was able to retake his powerful position as Dikat of the Corellian sector.  Thracken's victory at Centerpoint further damaged the philosophical schism between Anakin and Jacen.  Thracken would eventually become the leader of the Peace Brigade.

MENTORS AND FRIENDS

chewbacca
B
ig, hairy, and huggable, Chewbacca was a doting uncle to the three Solo kids.  He ended up giving his life to save Anakin Solo on Sernpidal, fully paying back his life debt to Han Solo and the rest of his Honor Family.  Unfortunately, his death riddled Anakin with guilt and the boy vowed to live up to the wookiee's sacrifice.

c-3po
M
r. Threep!  Anakin's tutor and babysitter, C-3PO (and R2-D2, of course) have always been the family droids.

winter celchu
W
inter has a holographic memory and is Princess Leia's best friend from Alderaan.  She raised Anakin and his siblings during their early years.  When Imperial baddies tried to kidnap infant Anakin from Anoth, Winter fought fiercely for his life.  Winter loved Anakin as a son and has accepted her youngest ward's sacrifice by swallowing her tears and holding pride in his achievements.

lando & tendra calrissian
L
ando has been a long time family friend of the Solos.  They don't see him often because he is often financing various business expeditions, and they see his wife Tendra Risant even less.  Anakin's opinion of his semi-uncle Lando is  pretty ambivalent.  Lando was the one who sent Anakin, Han, and Chewbacca to Sernpidal, and at Sernpidal, Chewbacca perished.  Despite his scheming shenanigans, Lando is a good guy at heart and has always been more than willing to help out with the war effort--especially if it can help him make a profit.  One of his newest contributions to the war is the YVH-Hunter battle droid, based on Anakin's droid designs.

Kam & Tionne Solusar
T
he Solusar husband-and-wife team happily head the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV.  They were influential in Anakin's development as a Jedi, and were one of his many mentors at the Academy.

corran horn

A
nother mentor of Anakin, hoorah.  Anakin accompanied Horn to Eriadu, which resulted in a crazy adventure on Yag'Dhul.  Poor Corran the baby-sitter feared that his son Valin's admiration of Anakin was dangerous.  He repeatedly warned Anakin of the dangers of death-defying adventures.  Of course, Anakin didn't really listen since he was too busy hitting on Tahiri.

fiver
A
nakin Solo's astromech was a modified R7 nicknamed for the number of times Anakin had to modify it before it could become compatible with the Incom XJ X-Wing he flied.  Anakin flew with Fiver at the Battles of Duro, Yavin IV, and Black Bantha.  Fiver was slowly developing a personality due to the lack of memory wipes Anakin gave him, but he faded into EU Limbo when Anakin passed away.

tahiri veila
T
ahiri was Anakin's best friend and girlfriend.  They met at the Jedi Academy when he was eleven and she was nine.  He was a silent boy who spoke only when he found it necessary.  She was a bubbly, talkative girl who spent her days running around barefoot.  They shared numerous adventures before Anakin left to begin his apprenticeship under Luke Skywalker, leaving her on Yavin IV to continue her training.  They were reunited a few hours before the Peace Brigade attacked Yavin IV and captured Tahiri.  The Peace Brigaders turned her over to Yuuzhan Vong shapers, who performed a variety of experiments on her.  Anakin rescued her from the Vong and began the difficult task of rescuing her from herself.  In the process, their friendship blossomed into (*sigh*) romance.  Anakin and Tahiri's combined powers were stronger than their separate halves.  Tahiri was devastated by Anakin's death.

ikrit
B
unny and funny-looking Kushiban Jedi Master Ikrit was over 400 years old when Anakin and Tahiri woke him up from his slumber.  A mentor to both students, Ikrit assisted in the training of students at the praxeum and was integral in it's evacuation when the Peace Bridage attacked.  Ikrit sacrificed his life to draw attackers away from students, among them Anakin and Tahiri.  Ikrit appeared to have sensed his own death, for he confided to Anakin that he had survived for so many centuries for the sole purpose of seeing something greater born in Anakin and Tahiri.
